At ILDEX Vietnam, on the afternoon of Friday 25 March he will be speaking at Perendale's very own Aquatic Update conference. His presentation will be titled 'Improvement of shrimp natural defences through nutrition.'
Here's a brief run-down:
As diseases are still very prevalent in aquaculture farming, a way to fight against pathogens, along with better biosecurity practices and proper identification of pathogens, is to improve the natural defences of animals.
The talk will give an overview on the way innate immunity works in shrimp, and how it can be improved through nutrition by the use of specific additives.
Yeast fractions, including beta-glucans and nucleotides have been used in modulating immune reactions in shrimp. Their use and mode of actions will be described here.
