Leading salmon producer Scottish Sea Farms is investing £35 million in this major new facility as part of a total £70 million spend anticipated over the next few years. The new hatchery will create up to 25 permanent high-value skilled jobs.
The new land-based RAS freshwater facility will be used for rearing smolts in bio-secure and environmentally friendly conditions.
Planning consent follows a period of consultation with the local community and the company has adapted plans to ensure that the site is developed in a way that also benefits the community and supports sustainable growth in the area.
