An unusual feature of this event is the introduction, to all attending the opening ceremony, the leaders of the Taiwanese fisheries and aquaculture industries along with the most important government representatives responsible for their sectors plus government representatives from country delegations.
Countries represented include Mexico, Romania, Argentina, Japan, Vietnam, Singapore, Bangladesh, Canada, mainland Chin and many Pacific Island nations.
Final words of welcome came from the city of Kaohsiung in the form of Mr Lin Ying-Pin, the Deputy Secretary General and Taiwan's Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr Chih-Chung Wu.
