The Jury has selected Benchmark Animal Health as the winner of the 2019 Innovation Award. Their technology for cleaning treatment water after delousing, Clean Treat, won after sharp competition from other applicants and finalists.
Benchmark's Head of Nordics, Carolina Faune, says receiving the Award is an honour and a confirmation that the goals they've set are the right ones.
Sustainable growth
Their goal is to help the industry grow in a sustainable way. 'As a green technology company we believe sustainability is both possible and profitable – not only when using the current medicine on the market, but also when using new ones', says Ms Faune. 'It's been ten years since this project was just an idea, so there's a lot of hard work behind the final product.'
Scottish Innovation
At the previous Aqua Nor in 2017, the winner was also Scottish, an indicator that Scottish innovation is really making its mark internationally.
Faune says Benchmark feel like a Norwegian-British company. 'Norway is along with other regions a major market for us. CleanTreat has been tested here, and is in use here in Norway as well. CleanTreat is now commercially available, and we expect our first deliveries next year.'
