Hol Chan Marine Reserve has reported the a Black Tiger Prawn. Originally from Africa, Australia and Southeast Asia was fished outside of the Reserve off Ambergris Caye. This is the second prawn that has been found in Belizean waters.

A new fisheries agreement between Russia and Sierra Leone is hoped to strengthen relations and cooperation over management and utilisation of the African country’s marine resources.
The agreement, which will be signed in Moscow, June/July 2013 will provide means for the exchange of information of mutual interest regarding the development of the fisheries industry in Sierra Leone.

Following accusations of labour abuse at a Thai shrimp plant, The Global Aquaculture Alliance is determining a corrective course of action to ensure that the plant is adhering to Thai labor laws and the Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) standards.
The BAP management team is following up with Narong Seafood, which will be required to respond to all accusations in the report, titled “The Walmart Effect: Child and Worker Rights Violations at Narong Seafood.”
