The official opening of FutureFish Eurasia began at 11am on
Thursday 5th June at the main entrance to Hall 2 of Izmir's International fair
ground. After the first visitors filed in at 10am there was a great atmosphere of
anticipation at the hall's entrance. International Aquafeed magazine's Tom
Blacker was on the front row reporting on the opening presentations.
The first speaker to open the show was Levent Akdogan, General
Manager of Eurasia Trade Fairs who spoke in English and Turkish to welcome all
and comment on the internationalisation and the general occasion of hosting the
7th FutureFish event. He mentioned many countries beyond Turkey, especially
African, Asian and European countries that have registered and set record
amounts of visitations to the event's website.
Industry and academic speakers followed, including a professor
from the Faculty of Fisheries at Izmir Katip Celebi University giving
impassioned speeches on the development of aquaculture in Turkey. There was
also an industry award for more than 40 years of service to aquaculture in
Turkey.
The ribbon cutting with all the speakers then finished off the
opening event and the visitors filing out to the exhibitor's stands and beyond.
Tom also met with important current writers and customers,
amongst other meetings, notably: Alvaro Rodriguez, Liptosa, Spain; Irmgard
Lorenzen, Biomar, Denmark; Franz-Peter Rebafka, GePro, Germany and Gunes Sezer,
Alltech, Turkey. Representatives from Inve Aquaculture, Andritz and Pentair
were also present to make this a very interesting aquaculture show indeed.
Please come to stand 426 in the centre of Hall 2 of Izmir
International Fair Ground for the remaining 2 days of the aquaculture show,
FutureFish Eurasia 2014.
