Bridge2Food free webinar:Tenebrio meal: a good candidate as fishmeal
alternative - Entomo Farm, 26th October 2017 4.30pm CET
Don’t miss your chance to join the free Bridge2Food and Perendale Publishing/International Aquafeed webinar on aquafeed protein innovation.
Nowadays, 4 kg of wild fish are needed to produce 1 kg of farmed fish. Fishmeal used in aquafeed is considered as non-sustainable and poorly traceable.
Novel sources of proteins are thus necessary to replace or partially replace fishmeal. Several studies have shown that insect-based ingredients could be a good alternative.
The results of a 3-month study launched by Entomo Farm with French aquaculture feed laboratory IctyoPharma have just been released.
Scientists have been evaluating the efficacy of graded incorporation levels of insect meal (Tenebrio molitor meal) on the growth performance, body composition and nutrient retention.
These data indicate the insect meal produced by Entomo Farm, could effectively replace 100 percent of fishmeal and blood meal in the diet of juvenile Nile tilapia.
Bridge2Food will host this webinar with Entomo Farm on 26 October 4.30 - 4.50 pm (CET), to discuss the latest trends in the aqua feed market and how tenebrio can be a game-changer in this environment.
