Recently
the World Aquaculture Society - Asian Pacific Chapter (WAS-APC) organised their
annual International event in several countries in the Asia Pacific region
Asian Pacific Aquaculture 2016 with over 6500 participants and 230 exhibits
resulted in the biggest aquaculture platform ever in the region. In 2017 the
event was organised in Malaysia while Asian Pacific Aquaculture 2018 is organised
in Taipei, Taiwan. WAS-APC decided to organise this major event in Chennai,
India – June 19-22, 2019.
The first meeting of the steering committee for Asian Pacific Aquaculture (APA’19) was held on 4th December 2017, Chennai, India. The meeting was hosted by the Tamil Nadu Fisheries University and organised by World Aquaculture Society-Asian Pacific Chapter.
To attract all aquaculture experts from the various regions in India, WAS-APC invited experts from various research institution, universities and association to become a member of the APA’19 Steering committee. Dr S. Felix, President-elect WAS APC serves as the National conference chair and Dr Farshad Shishehchian, Past President of WAS-APC was selected as the International conference chair. Dr JK Jena, Deputy Director General-Fisheries of ICAR facilitated the cooperation of all the Central and State Fisheries Institutes.
The meeting was attended by Directors, Vice Chancellors and Deans of the central institutes such as CIFE, CIFT, CIFRI, CIBA, DCWF and state fisheries institutes of Karnataka, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Lembucherra were also the part of the steering committee.

The Theme of APA19 is: Aquaculture for Health, Wealth and Happiness.
APA19 will create a platform for academic, professional and governmental experts. The technical sessions at the APA19 will be organised in eight conference rooms. The scientific posters will be showed in the exhibition hall with over 100 exhibition booths. The organisation provides several smaller meeting rooms for your business meeting or project meeting. Many associations will hold their annual meeting during the event.
The APA19 venue will be the Chennai Trade Centre.
