Water technology firm and developer of Electro Water Separation™ (EWS) OriginOil announced the inauguration of its Permanent Technology Showcase with a demonstration of its EWS Aqua Q60™ and EWS Algae A60™ models at Aqua Farming Tech, a sustainable fish farm in California, USA.
According to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters, the country's shrimp export revenue is poised to hit US$2.8 billion by the end of this year.
It is believed that the recovery of brackish water shrimp farming, good harvests, and increased vannamei development are among the contributing factors to the revenue.
Countries in the Caribbean are looking in to the use of fish aggregating devices (FADs) - objects used to attract schools of fish - in a bid to boost earnings, increase employment opportunities and improve conservation.
"Pelagic species, such as, yellowfin tuna, wahoo, blackfin tuna, marlin, and dolphinfish -- which are the ones targeted by the use of fish aggregating devices -- are very important to Caribbean countries because of their contribution to food and nutrition security and livelihoods in coastal communities,” said Milton Haughton, executive director, secretariat of the Caribbean Regional Fisheries Mechanism at a workshop held in St Vincent back in early December.
