The WorldFish Centre have published some interesting information about the aquaculture industry in Egypt.
Aquaculture in Egypt and its related activities make a significant contribution towards employment and provides an estimated 144,000 jobs for people. An increase in aquaculture production of 10% could create 10,000 new jobs.
In Egypt, the IEIDEAS project, part of the #CGIAR Research Program on Livestock and Fish, aims to develop the country’s aquaculture industry and generate more employment in the sector. A new #WorldFish analysis shows that tilapia production now provides one fish per week for every person in Egypt!
