Dr Kabir Chowdhury will receive Dr Albert Tacon and Prof. Dominique Bureau to discuss 'Dealing with Data: Challenges & Opportunities in aquaculture'.
Dr Dominique P. Bureau, a globally known expert in fish and crustacean nutrition, is a Professor at University of Guelph, Canada and manages the Fish Nutrition Research Laboratory involved on environmental impacts, development of mathematical models and valorisation of published scientific information.
As a past member of the US NRC Committee for Fish and Shrimp, he currently leads the International Aquaculture Feed Formulation Database project. One of his latest projects was to co-found Wittaya Aqua International, a thriving start-up developing cutting-edge online tools for the aquaculture sector.
After an illustrious carrier with FAO and University of Hawaii at Manoa, Dr Albert Tacon has been working with Aquatic Farms Ltd (Hawaii) as an independent consultant in aquaculture and aquaculture nutrition and feed related activities. His expertise has taken him to working in over 44 countries, and has over 228 scientific publications and one patent.
Dr Kabir Chowdhury received his PhD in Animal Nutrition from the University of Guelph, Ontario, Canada. His expertise covers evaluation of novel plant proteins and the effects of anti-nutrients and fibres on nutrient utilisation by fish, along with pellet quality assessment and ingredient characterisation. He has been developing and promoting Jefo's aquaculture solutions as global aquaculture manager and is now Jefo's Sales Director for South Asia.
