On Thursday 20th August 8:00 PM - 9:30 PM CDT (GMT-05:00), the Aquaculture Nutritionists Network and Jefo are hosting Professor Giovanni M. Turchini for its third session of 'Talking with Titans' webinar series. The theme for this session is 'From alternative to complementary: towards a more judicious use of marine resources in aquafeed'. As usual, Dr Albert Tacon and Dr Kabir Chowdhury will join as regular panelist and moderator, respectively. Together, they will talk about the alternatives to complementary raw materials.
Professor Turchini is Associate Dean-Research for the Faculty of Science, Engineering and Built Environment, and Professor of Nutrition and Food Science of Deakin University, Australia. As a biochemist and nutritionist, with key interest on food quality and sustainability, Professor Turchini's research interests span from fish to human nutrition, aquaculture, fatty acid metabolism, fishmeal and fish oil replacement, and ethical issues encountered in the fisheries and aquaculture sectors. Throughout his career, Professor Turchini has been awarded two ARC Discovery fellowships, developed a series of significant industry collaborations, published extensively, including an authored book and several book chapters, and his work is highly cited and influential.
The Aquaculture Nutritionists Network is a group of passionate aquaculture nutritionists that have regrouped on LinkedIn to share experience and scientific finding with their peers.
This session is dedicated in honour of Professor Sena De Silva, a renowned global aquaculture and inland fisheries researcher and mentor to countless students around the globe, who passed away peacefully on the 6th of May in Melbourne, Australia after a brief illness.
