'As part of our sustainability initiative, we'll be serving up focused content with relevant experts that show why this project is relevant to animal food manufacturers and industry stakeholders,' says Lara Moody, IFEEDER's executive director. 'Whether you want nine minutes of insight or a 30-minute deeper dive, we're offering choices for interested individuals and companies to learn about sustainability topics facing our industry and show how they can join us this fall for high-level discussions.'
The first webinar, 'Defining Sustainability,' is now available in two versions – a short, nine minute highlights video and the full 27-minute-deep dive. In the video, Kim Stackhouse-Lawson, Ph.D., director of AgNext, and Matt Sutton-Vermeulen, principal of The Context Network, ask viewers to consider how their organisations define sustainable feed and pet food, what role emotion has in sustainability relative to science and ways to take a proactive, versus defensive, stance in addressing sustainability.
The second webinar, 'Downstream Expectations,' is expected to be released September 22, with the third webinar, 'Agricultural Carbon,' following on September 29. All webinars will be posted at ifeeder.org/sustainability.
The Sustainability Road Map is a pivotal component of IFEEDER's efforts to lower the U.S. animal food industry's environmental footprint and advance industry solutions to this global challenge. It provides an opportunity for the animal food industry and its stakeholders to develop a road map and supporting resources for information exchange, including standardisation and methodologies, and to provide life cycle data up and down the production chain. Beyond life cycle assessment, the effort will explore the scope of sustainability guidance and resources needed by the animal food industry for its continuous improvement. Through industry and stakeholder assessment, IFEEDER will evaluate risks and opportunities within each animal food industry segment to determine the extent of support to be mapped and further developed.
