With the 10th International Seaweed Conference taking place next week, meet Ólavur Gregersen, a key-note speaker for the event

The potential for providing large quantities of food and biomass from seaweed and mariculture is much larger than for any other group of marine organisms (SAPEA, 2017). To leverage on this potential, strategic investments have to be made in sustainable, large-scale seaweed cultivation.

Where are such investments needed most? And how can they guide the development and systematic progression of an emerging seaweed industry in Europe and North America?

Co-founder and CEO of Ocean Rainforest, Ólavur Gregersen, will be giving a key note talk about 'Financial pathways for a scalable seaweed business" in his opening presentation at this year's Seagriculture conference. With his team, he is pioneering scalable seaweed cultivation systems for offshore and nearshore locations in the Faroe Islands (North Atlantic Ocean) and most recently also on the Californian Pacific Coast.

The conference gathers top speakers, who will share their knowledge and know-how on seaweeds for feed, food, offshore cultivation, biorefinery of seaweed and much more. Don't miss this unique opportunity to network with colleagues from all over Europe within industry and research.
