British Supermarket, Sainsbury's is offering UK farmers and growers £1 million to invest in the future of British farming.

Fish farmers are eligible to apply for a share of the cash via the Sainsbury's 2013 Research and Development Grant.

The grants are open to over 2,000 farmers and growers that the retailer works with across the UK.

The money will be awarded against three priorities:

Improvement in animal, fish or plant health, nutrition and welfare with a tangible impact on final product quality (where applicable)

Development of agricultural solutions that deliver sustainable intensification whilst improving quality and securing resilient supply chains.
Development of new products or processes that improve safety, quality, taste or freshness.

Vietnam has lifted its radioactivity testing on food imported from Japan.

All food products enetering Vietnam from Japan were subject to strict tests for radioactivity following the Fukushima nuclear accident in March 2011.

The Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP) has welcomed the relaxation saying it will help the Vietnamese seafood processing enterprises increase competitiveness and reduce costs.
