Asian Pacific Aquaculture 2019: Aquaculture for Health, Wealth and Happiness

WAS-APC together with TNJFU is organising the #APA19 Asian Pacific Aquaculture 2019. The International event will be hosted at the Chennai Trade Centre (CTC) from June 19 to 21, 2019, India.

The first plenary speaker will be Mr Theng Dar TENG. His Excellency Ambassador to the Sultanate of Oman. His presentation will be the opportunity to introduce the conference theme 'Aquaculture for Health, Wealth and Happiness ' depicting the global scenario of Aquaculture and its outlook in 2030 to all APA19 participants. The second plenary speaker is Shri.

Tarun Shridhar, IAS,Secretary to the Department of Animal Husbandry, Dairying and Fisheries in the Union Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, India. His talk will highlight on the potential of Indian aquaculture production and its exemplary performance towards blue revolution target of the country.

Mr Theng Dar Teng, is a well -known public and private sector figure in Singapore and the ASEAN Region, and since 2008 he has been serving as Singapore's Non-Resident Ambassador to the Sultanate of Oman.

In Japan, with particuar focus in aquaculture, hitech farming, and foodtech he is also serving as the Adviser on SE Asia Affairs to the Shizuoka Prefecture Government, and Global Business Advisor to the Miyagi Prefecture Government.

On education and youth development activities, Mr Teng is the Distinguished Adviser to the School of Applied Science, Temasek Polytechnic to support Research, Innovation and Enterprise – i.e RIE initiatives in aquculture.

Concurrently at national level in Singapore, he serves as member of Advisory Board of the National Youth Achievement Award (NYAA) to support Singapore youth leadership development programs.

Shri Tarun Shridhar, IAS has been appointed as Secretary (Animal Husbandry, Dairying & Fisheries) in the Union Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare. He is an Indian Administrative Officer (IAS) officer of Himachal Pradesh 1984 batch and represent the country at the International level to sketch the fisheries and aquaculture progress in many international forums.

He handles affairs of government, which involves the framing and implementation of policy in consultation with the concerned Minister of the country. Earlier to this assignment, he was the Additional Chief Secretary (Animal Husbandry & Fisheries) in Himachal Pradesh Government until recently.

Shri Tarun Shridhar also had a chequered career as Joint Secretary (Fisheries) in the Union Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare from 2008 to 2013. He was instrumental in introducing the SPF L. vannamei shrimp culture in India making the country a major global producer amongst the farmed shrimp producing countries in the World.

Late abstract submission will be approved on a case-to-case basis upon decision of the program and session chairs. All abstracts should be submitted through the WAS website, HERE.
