Call for proposals to address organic waste from net pens

The Scottish Aquaculture Innovation Centre (SAIC) has announced a grant funding for a collaborative industry-academia project, to explore practical and applied systems which could collect and process particulate organic wastes at a sheltered fish farming location.

The competition opened on the 9th December 2019 and will close 31st January 2020, for which a total available grant of £288,333 GBP is available.

The primary purpose of this project is to implement and evaluate a waste collection and recovery system for conventional net pens at a sheltered fish farming location; and thereafter, in light of experience, to assess the feasibility of collecting wastes at marine farming locations with greater wave exposure and stronger tidal currents.

For full details on the project and for information on applying visit the SAIC website, HERE.
