Due to high priced ingredients in 2008, feed mills started to manufacture new less expansive formulations for catfish. These feed formulations have been tested at the University of Arkansas for the past three years, three 32 percent protein diets were tested (an industry standard, an alternative and a corn gluten feed diet).
