The Department of Primary Industries has unveiled its plans for a 20 hectare finfish research lease in Port Stephen's. This will allow Port Stephen's researchers to extend their ground breaking research into Yellowtail Kingfish and Southern Bluefin tuna. Ian Lyall aquaculture manager said "We had a couple of aquaculture projects in the region that haven't proceeded as we though they may have, that's true," he also said. "I guess for us to take that risk to do that proof of concept is probably important to show that we can undertake this activity sustainably". Read more ...
