With the issues facing the meal and poultry industry where antibiotics are over used, could this be said of the aquaculture industry. Recently a paper was published in The Journal of Infectious Diseases, referring to a possible drug resistant bacterial strain called Salmonella Kentucky ST198 and that it might be connected to fish farming. This strain has been spreading since 2002, a recent study suggest that it might have come into African chickens via drug use in integrated aquaculture systems. Read more ...
