With the high cost of live feeds for fish larvae in marine aquaculture, a lot of effort has gone into finding alternative feeds one is to replace live feeds with inert microdiets. The ingestion and breakdown of carrageenan and alginate microdiets in Senegalese sole, post-larvae, were discussed at Aquaculture Europe 2011.
