The sun is shining on Trondheim today and the welcoming presentation has just concluded. With two exceptional musical performances and inspiring words from authorities of Norwegian Aquaculture Industry, this promises to be a high class event.
Guided by Nor-Fishing Foundation President Liv Holmefjord with speeches from Trondheim mayor Rita Ottervik and Norwiegen minister of fisheries Elisabeth Aspaker.
Ms Ottervik told of how Norwegian Salmon farmers in 1970 were told that their Salmon were too small, coming forward to today where Norway stands as one of the largest Salmon producers in the world. After expressing the impressive developments of Aquaculture in Norway over past decades, themes for the future were introduced.
Improved knowledge and sustainability seem to be key themes with a sub-focus on attracting the next generation of Aquacuturists and addressing fisheries crime.
Additionally Ms Holmefjord announced that by 2018 a new and larger venue (an additional 5000m2) will be used, highlighting the expansion of the event.
Stay tuned, we will be making posts throughout the event.
