AquaFarm launches a new contest that rewards innovation in aquaculture

In February 2022 AquaFarm will blow out five candles and is preparing to celebrate the event by launching a contest to reward innovation. The contest is aimed at researchers and start-ups from all over the world to reward projects, products and services aiming to improve productivity in aquaculture. The call to participate will be open from November 5th to December 31st.

The appointment for all operators in the aquaculture supply chain and innovations in the agritech world has therefore been set: AquaFarm and NovelFarm will be held on February 16-17 at Pordenone Fiere.

'It is important for us to launch this new project at the fifth edition of AquaFarm,' says Renato Pujatti, President of Pordenone Fiere.' A sign of how, in the opinion of Pordenone Fiere, the aquaculture sector is concretely strategic not only for our region, but for the whole country, which has the potential to become an international reference for the sector."

Sustainable food production is now the only way forward and research and innovation must work alongside the sector with the same goal: to protect the environment by granting supplies to a rapidly growing world population.

All participants of the AquaFarm Contest will be able to exhibit a project poster at the Fair, the three winners will have the opportunity to illustrate their research or innovation in front of the audience of the event and will receive a cash prize to support their business. The jury will be composed of technology and economics experts as well as representatives of producers' associations, who are the most interested in the adoption of the innovations presented.

Another novelty of 2022 concerns algae: a theme that has always met with enormous success with the public since the first edition and that from the next edition sees the birth of AlgaeFarm, a space dedicated to this world, both in terms of lectures and exhibition space.
