During raids carried out on vessels owned by the Lakeland group large amounts of pesticides were found on the boats. Dr Micheal Hansen from the US Consumers Union told the public hearing, of the sloppy science being used to get the fish approved as food. Australia seafood services(SSA) has criticised the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), for claiming that almost all commercial fisheries will have collapsed by 2050. Uruguay enters into the network of aquaculture of the Americas (RAA)
President Jose Mujica (Uruguay) has authorised the country's entrance into the network of aquaculture of the Americas (RAA). Created in March 2009 to promote the sustainability of aquaculture in numerous countries across the region.
