AQUA 2012: Industry events and workshops
Several events have
been organised to bring together scientists, suppliers and producers
to address issues affecting the sector and to identify opportunities
and challenges:
On September 1,
the EAS Thematic Group European Percid
Fish Culture (EPFC) will organise a
workshop on the culture of pike-perch, perch and other members of the
percidae family based on sub-sessions addressing broodstock
management and fingerling production; ongrowing and nutrition and
marketing and training.
In each session, a selection of short
presentations from industry and research representatives will give an
overview over the current status and will be followed by a panel
discussion.
Also on that day,
world expert Tom Losordo will deliver a workshop on Recirculating
Aquaculture Systems (RAS).
On September 2nd,
A General Aquaculture Farmers’ Day,
supported by AQUA 2012 Gold Sponsor BIOMAR, will address issues such
as marketing, addressing multi-species, multi-environment feed needs;
focus on marine fish, tilapia and mollusc industries and technology /
engineering aspects. It will terminate with a special celebration of
BIOMAR’s 50th
Anniversary.
The Czech Minister
for Agriculture Round Table, also on that day will focus on the
quality of fish meat, and will bring
invited experts from several countries around the table to discuss
effect of breeding, nutrition, husbandry and processing on this
attribute.
The Freshwater
Farmers Day on September 4th
is supported by the Ministry of Agriculture of the Czech Republic and
will include sessions on general nutrition, sturgeon culture, carp
culture, genetic approaches in freshwater aquaculture, husbandry and
management and new species.
