A hip
hop-themed fish and chip shop is gearing up to open in Brixton, UK, serving “fresh
fish, seafood and Old Skool hip hop”, Ben Norum writes for The Evening Standard.
It will sit on the corner of Coldharbour Lane and Atlantic Road, and has already made quite an impression in the area by covering its shutters and outside walls with graffiti depicting famous rappers — including 2Pac and Big L — along with its tag-like logo.
It is the latest project from Michael Lythgoe and his partner Cidalia Rodrigues, who also run Brixton Village Grill nearby and who have lived in the area for 18 years.
Chip Shop will serve the usual chippie fare of cod and haddock with chips, along with pies — homemade not Pukka — as well as fish and seafood including grilled tuna steaks, red snapper and mussel and crab dishes. It will operate as a restaurant but there will also be a hatch serving takeaways.
