A study carried out by the University of Aberdeen show that the environmental efficiency of Scottish fish farms could be improved by careful site selection. Researchers say that decision makers would benefit from a better understanding as to current speed relates to seabed sediment type.
At present decision makers use mathematical models to help determine the best size for a fish farm for any proposed location, however recently the Scottish Government has ask for research to look at how effective the current process is.
