Couple battle aquaculture company over plans to create new farm

A New Zealand couple from Wellington, Martin and Clare Pinder has taken on New Zealand's aquaculture company King Salmon over the plan to create a new fish farm at Marlborough Sounds. Two years ago the couple bought land and began building a bach (a small weekend/vacation home). As they neared completion of their bach, they learnt that King Salmon was planning to develop a salmon farm twice the size of a rugby field at the center of their view of Ngamahau Bay.

The Pinders approached King salmon representatives who told them that they had no idea anyone was building a bach there. The Pinders have offered to sell the bach to the company, but the company declined only offering to plant trees which would eventually block their view. King Salmon has refused any further negotiations. So now the couple are offering the bach as a prize for a weeks vacation for anyone that opposes the development of the new salmon farm.  Read more ...
