As the cost of fishmeal skyrockets and the supply-demand widens, the interest in alternative proteins in aquaculture has increased. So reducing fishmeal dependence has become important fro the profitability and sustainability of the aquaculture industry.
Feathers are by product of the poultry meat industry which becomes the raw material for the production of feather meal. The EU produces about 1,000,000 tons of crude feathers which is the equivalent to 320,000 tons of feather meal. State of the art technology allows for the drying processed feathers under optimal conditions using low temperature (LT) drying technology.
