Scottish Natural Heritage (SNH), has confirmed that it has no objections for a new fish farm being planned in the Sound of Harris. The planned Atlantic salmon farm will be close to the Islands of Lingay and Groay, it will consists of 20 cages and each cage will be 24 m2 in two groups and have complimentary shellfish species on six 200 metre longlines.
David Maclennan, SNH Western Isles area manager, said: "Having considered all the information to hand, we are advising that we do not consider that the fish farm will have an adverse effect on the integrity of the National Scenic Area. Read more...
