Cooke aquaculture charged for banned pesticide

Cooke aquaculture, owners of Kelly Cove Salmon have been charged by Environmental Canada for its alleged release of a banned pesticide into the marine environment. The alleged release of cypermethrin-based pesticide is harmful to crustaceans and may have caused the death of lobsters in 2009.  The charges are the results of two investigations by Environmental Canada carried out on December 22, 2009 and February 10, 2010.
