The Kenyan government is to build a fish processing factory in Kakamega town to help fish farmers earn more. The factory, the first to be established in Kakamega town since independence, was necessitated by the increased fish production in the county. The factory will be constructed at Lutonyi area. Kakamega County Fisheries Officer James Mahaja said that Kakamega was among seven other counties where the government had earmarked to put up value addition structures in the fishing industry.
