BioMar is looking for a technical advisor
to join their West Med BioFarm team. BioFarm is their technical assistance, which
consists of a team of highly skilled specialists with backgrounds within
nutrition, biology, pathology, and engineering, backed by their long tradition of
working closely with fish farmers.
You will have responsibility for the key clients, mainly with production of bass and bream in cages, across the countries which are managed by BioMar's West Med business unit, i.e. Spain, France, Italy, Croatia and African Countries, among others.

The job
Based at their offices in Dueñas, Spain, and
reporting to the BioMar West Med BioFarm Manager, you will be working in a
highly competitive environment and you will be responsible for technical assistance
to their key clients, coordinating with the different departments for a
successful process. Further, you will provide technical support to the BioMar
West Med commercial department.
More specifically, the job covers the
following areas:
- Ensuring a strong collaboration between the relevant departments with regards to the implementation of the appropriate technical assistance
- Being a key player in establishing solid commercial objectives
- Ensuring budgeting, forecasting, and follow up on company targets
- Supporting the development of the technical and commercial teams as well as effective internal and external communication
- Supporting the commercial team in the form of customer visits, providing product and production specifications to customers in aspects such as raw material usage, nutrient specifications, and others
- Liaise closely with R&D, Product Managers and the commercial departments to ensure a fast and adaptive approach to customer demands, implementation of R&D results and reaction to purchasing conditions and raw material supply.
The candidate
You probably have a degree in marine
biology, veterinary sciences, ichthyology or an equivalent combination of
education and experience. You have experience from a similar position within
aquaculture. Fluency in English and Spanish is a must and proficiency in
additional languages would be a major benefit.
As a person Biomar expect you to be result
driven with a solid commercial focus. You are passionate about building up
relationships and working in a multicultural environment. Furthermore you are
known for a structured approach, a strong overview, and for being open-minded.
Your professional background will probably be characterized by:
- BSc or equivalent, ideally MSc or relevant Master degree (not essential)
- Fluency in Spanish and English; knowledge of a second language, mainly French, will be an advantage.
- At least 10 years' experience in relevant area(s), specifically in production of fish
- Good overall knowledge of the aquaculture industry, specifically the technical aspects of the industry, and ideally some experience in fish or animal nutrition and formulation. Most relevant species are sea bream, sea bass, rainbow trout and flat fish.
