Canada: Fisheries Technician/ Hatchery Technician required

Department of Fisheries & Aquaculture of Nova Scotia is seeking a Fisheries Technician/ Hatchery Technician at Fraser's Mills in Nova Scotia. Duties will include assisting in the rearing and distribution of brook, brown and rainbow trout and Atlantic salmon to enhance the Province’s sport fishery. S/he will also assist in the implementation of programs directed towards the management of the Province’s inland sport fishery. Duties, on site include: feeding fish, cleaning rearing units, various fin fish husbandry practices, as well as use and maintenance of aquaculture equipment. Qualifications
Grade 11 and two years related experience or an acceptable equivalent combination of training and experience. Applicants should have knowledge and experience in fish hatchery production techniques including: fish husbandry, data collection and assessment. Must be skilled in the operation of motor vehicles, small boats and aquaculture/fisheries management equipment. Candidates should be proficient in and around lakes, rivers and streams and swimming ability would be an asset. Read more ...
