A proposed fish farm by Irvine and Johnson (I&J) at Mossel Bay in South Africa has caused an outcry by the tourism community, which has mobilised support to lodge an objection in the next three days against environmental approval. The proposed farm would be located about 2.5 km offshore from the Klein Brak River mouth.
According to CCA Environmental, which did an impact assessment for I & J‘s aquaculture project, the fish farm will grow indigenous finfish such as yellowtail, dusky cob and silver cob, in 36 cages, reports the local news organisation WeekendPost. The tourism chief operations officer Marica Holm has said that she has objected to the way the matter of the proposed fish farm has been handled. Read more ...
